We have been to many indoor arenas before but Madison Square Garden stands out. It is historic beyond doubt. There are many regular events which are hosted by the Madison Square Garden. In sports it is the home to Basketball franchisee New York Knicks and Hockey League franchisee New York Rangers. They are all owned exclusively by the Madison square Garden Company.
Madison Square Garden is also famous for being a host to a large number of music shows and concerts. It hosted the concert of George Harrison of Beatles, John Lennon’s final concert appearance and also hosted four sell out performances of Elvis Presley. I had always been a big fan of these legendary music artists so visiting this place gave me a feeling of pride. U2 my favourite Rock band also performed in this venue for a record 17 times.
Seating of the arena is organised in six levels, having a capacity of close to 20000 people for the various basketball and ice hockey matches. There is also a theatre at the Madison Square Garden’s which has seating for 2000 to 5500 people used for various ceremonies and events. Recently the Madison Square garden was all over in news in India as it hosted a meeting of Indian Americans which was addressed by Indian Prime minister and attended by some 20000 Indian Americans.
This visit to the legendary Madison Square garden was a trip which we enjoyed every minute. We hoped that an opportunity comes to us so we can attend some live performance in this arena sometime in the future.
The next destination of our New York visit was the New York public library.
