The next day we woke up late after the hectic schedule. Sipping the steaming coffee, I felt contented for a beautiful and rewarding visit, which is still completely exciting. I remembered we have a long visit to Ireland’s yet another famously beautiful spot, the Charles Fort Kinsale Ireland. The fort is situated in Summer Cove Kinsale and it takes more than three hours to reach the place from the Dublin Centre. Our chauffeur came up with a better option promising to reach the place within 2 hours and 50 minutes travelling via M7 and M8.
As decided we reached Kinsale harbor precisely in 2 hours and 58 minutes and headed to the Charles Fort, which is built in the shape of a star. I did some research and found that the structure was built in 1677 and 1682 by an architect, William Robinson during the time of King Charles II to defend the cannon fire.

Admittedly, the fort was quite huge in size with as many as five bastions for defense. The walls were quite thick and could be up to 6 meters. Of course, they were strong and impenetrable. The bastions were designed in such a way that two were situated towards the sea and three towards the land having a sentry gate at each of the point.
I was completely soaked in the beguiling beauty of the place for a while when Aaron called me from the distance positioning him in one of the bastions. Waving my hand to him, I went back to the history. Amazingly the structure has withstood the Williamite wars happened in 1690. In 1922, the fort was further destroyed by the Irish Civil War.

The ruins of the Charles Fort Kinsale Ireland have a long history to tell you. The vast complex has barracks and stables and a hospital. There are also “married quarters, gun and ammunition stores, and parade grounds”. There is an exhibition center too, which was commander’s quarters before. I stumbled upon octagonal structures, built wonderfully for to hold water tanks.
We were quite tired after a long walk around the structure. Moreover, it’s time to move to the next spot, but I need to refresh myself before that.
